Are you going away and leaving your house vacant? If you will be gone for three days or even three months (or more), the Orono Police Department offers a program to check the exterior of your home when you are away.
When you request this service, you will be asked for your departure and return dates, whether your mail and newspapers have been stopped, if your house has an alarm system, who holds a key to the house and other relevant questions.
We recommend that you have a friend or neighbor watch your home also, and use timers (found at your local hardware store) for lighting. It is a good idea for you to try and make your house look "lived in" at much as possible. A good and attentive neighbor is more helpful sometimes than an alarm system!
Call the Police Department at 952-249-4700 during regular
business hours to arrange to have officers check your home while you are away,
or fill out the request form below and return it in-person at 2730 Kelley
Parkway or by mail to Orono Police Department, P.O. Box 86, Crystal Bay, MN,
55323.
